Last weeks of School!

Students have been working frantically to finish projects and get everything glazed by the end of this week. In the last two days I have fired 14 tiles, 6 mugs and 3 bowls. Still have 3 glazed mugs and half a dozen greenware mugs to fire.

It's grinding time...

The ONLY piece that fell off the stilts, and it was the ONLY piece that was to be presented as a gift.
Back to the clay and make another today so it will be ready in time. Cone 5, Ancient Jasper - what a waste of a great glaze  :' ((

The students have been working hard and are glazing pinch pots...

New Clay Works!

Last semester's students are busy on their free time getting their projects glazed, the new semester students are busy starting their pinch pots, and the teacher is trying to get them all motivated to finish by today. Parent teacher conference is later this week, and I want them to have work to show parents.  They haven't done too bad this year - compared to other classes I have had. Here are some highlights of their work:

Back again!

Hello fellow potters! I am teaching ceramics again at an alternative high school here in Shiprock, New Mexico. I will be posting pictures and updates at least weekly to keep you all updated. These students have shown some great promise in their work already, and it shows improvement with each project. Stay tuned for some good pots!

Another School year is upon us!

Here we are for another year of fun and excitement in clay! This summer I spent a lot of time at school getting things reorganized, and cleaned up a bit! I also started to recycle a bit of the scrap clay ... Just a little. This is all from last year's classes. I sure wish I had a pug mill!

Trying a platter....

Thought I would try my hand at a platter as a Christmas gift for a friend.  She owns the local Mexican restuarant.  Hope this doesn't warp out of shape!

Tried to copy the text from her logo on her website: Carmensguam.com .

Two more days and I will have pics up of more face mugs, and some boxes, maybe even a couple of plates!
Hopefully this platter will be glazed as well....
